P&M Plastics fabricates custom polycarbonate windscreens and cab screens for excavators, forestry harvesters, skid steers, mining equipment, boats, and other heavy machinery. Polycarbonate is 250 times stronger than glass and virtually unbreakable under impact — it absorbs hits from branches, rocks, and debris that would shatter tempered glass. Unlike glass, polycarbonate deforms on impact rather than fragmenting into dangerous shards, keeping operators protected and cab enclosures sealed. We CNC-cut panels from optical-grade polycarbonate sheet in thicknesses from 3 mm to 12 mm, with bolt holes, wiper cutouts, radius corners, and edge finishing all done in-house at our Gold Coast workshop. For curved cab profiles, we heat-form polycarbonate to match OEM frame geometry. We supply single replacement screens or complete multi-panel cab sets including front, sides, and rear panels to a single order.

Marine & Boat Windscreens

Polycarbonate is an excellent choice for boat windscreens, centre console screens, and flybridge panels. Salt spray, UV exposure, and wave impact make glass impractical on the water — polycarbonate handles all three while staying clear and lightweight. We fabricate marine windscreens with curved profiles, screw-hole patterns to suit your frame, and hard-coated surfaces that resist salt and abrasion.

Why Polycarbonate Over Glass or Acrylic?

Glass shatters on impact. Acrylic (perspex) is ten times stronger than glass but still cracks under heavy hits. Polycarbonate is 250 times stronger than glass and 30 times stronger than acrylic — it flexes on impact instead of breaking. For any windscreen application where operator safety or equipment protection matters, polycarbonate is the right material. It is also half the weight of glass at the same thickness, reducing cab weight and improving fuel efficiency on mobile plant.

Coatings & Options

Standard polycarbonate yellows over time without UV stabilisation. All our windscreen panels are supplied with UV-coated polycarbonate as standard, protecting against yellowing and extending service life to 10+ years. We also offer tinted polycarbonate for glare reduction, and anti-scratch hard coatings for high-abrasion environments like forestry and mining.

Frequently Asked Questions

What thickness polycarbonate do I need for a windscreen?
For most cab screens and boat windscreens, 6 mm polycarbonate provides excellent impact resistance while keeping weight down. Forestry and mining machines that cop heavy debris hits often use 10 mm or 12 mm panels. We can advise on the right thickness for your application.
Will polycarbonate yellow over time?
Uncoated polycarbonate can yellow with prolonged UV exposure. All our windscreen panels come with UV-coated polycarbonate as standard, which prevents yellowing and gives a 10+ year service life in full sun.
Can you make curved windscreens?
Yes. We heat-form polycarbonate to match curved cab profiles and OEM frame geometry. Bring us a template, a drawing, or the old screen and we will match the shape.
Do you supply boat and marine windscreens?
Yes. Polycarbonate is ideal for marine use. It handles salt spray, UV, and wave impact far better than glass. We fabricate boat windscreens, centre console screens, and flybridge panels with curved profiles and screw-hole patterns to suit your frame.
Can I get a replacement screen for my excavator or forestry machine?
Absolutely. We supply replacement polycarbonate screens for all major brands including CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, Tigercat, Ponsse, and more. Send us the old screen dimensions or OEM part number and we will fabricate a direct replacement.
