P&M Plastics offers custom vacuum forming services for producing shaped plastic parts, trays, covers, and enclosures. Vacuum forming is a cost-effective manufacturing process that uses heat and vacuum pressure to shape thermoplastic sheets over custom moulds, creating lightweight yet durable formed components.

Our vacuum forming capabilities are ideal for producing protective covers, equipment housings, packaging trays, point-of-sale displays, signage letters, and custom enclosures.

We work with a range of formable plastics including ABS, HIPS, PETG, Polycarbonate, Acrylic, and PVC in various thicknesses and colours. From prototype tooling to production runs, we manage the full process: mould design, sheet selection, forming, trimming, and finishing.

Vacuum forming offers significant cost advantages over injection moulding for low-to-medium volume production, making it the ideal choice for custom parts where tooling investment needs to be kept manageable.

Our team can advise on material selection, draft angles, and mould design to ensure your formed parts meet dimensional and aesthetic requirements.

How It Works

1

Share Your Design

Provide your part design, dimensions, and functional requirements. We can work from 3D models or sketches.

2

Mould Engineering

We design and build the vacuum forming mould optimised for your part geometry and material.

3

Forming & Trimming

Sheets are heated and vacuum-formed over the mould, then trimmed and finished to specification.

4

Quality & Delivery

Formed parts are inspected for dimensional accuracy and surface quality before dispatch.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does vacuum forming compare to injection moulding?
Vacuum forming has much lower tooling costs, making it ideal for runs under 5,000 units. Injection moulding becomes more cost-effective at higher volumes.
What wall thickness can you achieve?
This depends on the material and part geometry. Typical formed parts range from 1mm to 6mm wall thickness.
Can you produce coloured or textured parts?
Yes: we form from coloured, textured, and clear thermoplastic sheets to suit your application.
