Why Acrylic for Reptile Enclosures

Clear cast acrylic is the preferred material for reptile enclosures in Australia. It offers 92% light transmission (clearer than glass), weighs roughly half as much, and is far more impact-resistant. Acrylic also insulates better than glass, helping maintain stable temperature gradients inside the enclosure without overworking your heat source. It is safe for use with ceramic heat emitters, heat mats, and UVB tubes.

For keepers housing larger or more active species, polycarbonate panels provide even greater impact resistance while maintaining excellent clarity. We advise on the best material for your species and setup.

Custom Dimensions and Configurations

Every enclosure is built to your specifications. Whether you need a tall arboreal vivarium for green tree pythons, a wide low-profile terrarium for bearded dragons, or a rack of identical breeding tubs for geckos, we fabricate to any size and shape. Standard features include sliding or hinged locking lids, precision-drilled ventilation holes or laser-cut mesh inserts, and cord management cutouts for heating and lighting cables.

We can also build stackable modular systems for breeders, with consistent external dimensions so units interlock cleanly. Each module gets its own ventilation, locking mechanism, and cable routing.

Ventilation and Climate Control

Proper airflow is critical for reptile health. We offer multiple ventilation options tailored to your species: precision-drilled hole patterns along side or rear panels, laser-cut stainless steel mesh panel inserts, full mesh lids, or a combination. Ventilation placement is customised to maintain correct airflow without compromising the temperature gradient your animal needs.

For humidity-loving species such as green tree pythons, jungle carpet pythons, or dart frogs, we use solvent-welded seams and sealed bases to prevent moisture escape. Raised base edges contain substrate and water features without leaking.

Every enclosure is fabricated in our Burleigh Heads workshop using locally sourced acrylic and polycarbonate sheet. We serve hobbyists, breeders, reptile rescue organisations, and pet retailers across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and South-East Queensland. Freight delivery is available for customers further afield, or you can collect from our workshop.
